Delete from inside the app (recommended)
The fastest way. Your account, sign-in and database records are erased immediately by our automated pipeline.
- Open Weight Pocket on your phone or tablet.
- Sign in to the account you want to delete.
- Go to Settings → System → Delete Account. If you do not have an active subscription, you can also delete from the subscription screen, using the Delete my account link at the bottom of the screen, next to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy links.
- Confirm when prompted, then confirm once more on the final warning screen. For your security the app then asks you to confirm with your device passcode or biometrics, if your device has them set up, and, if you signed in with Apple or Google, to sign in with it again before anything is deleted. If you signed in with a password more than five minutes ago, sign out and sign back in first: our server accepts the deletion only with a sign-in within the last five minutes.
- Your account, sign-in and all database records are permanently erased right away. Any stored file (photos, exports) that cannot be removed at once is retried by an automated job once a day for up to 14 days; if one is still there after that, it is recorded for us to finish by hand.
Request deletion by email
If you no longer have access to the app or your device, you can request deletion via email. We will verify your identity, then process the deletion within 30 days.
Send an email to:
support@weightpocket.comPlease include the following in your email:
- The email address associated with your Weight Pocket account.
- A statement confirming you understand the deletion is permanent and irreversible.
- (Optional) Approximate date you created the account, to help us verify identity.
- (Optional) Device(s) you used (iOS / Android), to help us verify the right account.
For security reasons, we may ask you to verify your identity by responding to a confirmation email sent to the registered address before we proceed with deletion. We will never delete an account based solely on an unverified request.
What is deleted
When you delete your account, we run a comprehensive erasure pipeline that permanently removes:
- Profile (name, email, photo, role)
- All weight, BMI, and biometric history
- All daily logs, symptoms, energy, mood
- All meals and nutrition data (meal photos are stored only on your phone; the app wipes them on that device)
- All medication records and injection history
- Your conversation with WiPi, the on-device assistant
- All behavioral data, nudges, and milestones
- All linked HealthKit/Health Connect data within our system
- Billing records tied to your account (an active App Store / Google Play subscription is not canceled by deleting the account — see “Before you delete”)
- Firebase Authentication account itself
⚠️ What may remain after deletion:
- Audit records. Every privileged action — including the deletion itself — is written to an append-only audit trail we must keep for 6 years under HIPAA § 164.530(j). These records hold your account ID and the action, never your health data, and they outlive your account by design.
- A deletion marker — your account ID and the date of deletion — kept so that a session that was still open cannot recreate the account, and a record of the cleanup of your stored files, with your account ID and anything still left to delete, kept for 180 days.
- Data already shared with your linked educator (coach) may be retained by that educator, or by the organization they work for, under its own retention policy and applicable law.
- Backups. Database backups are purged on a 35-day rolling basis, so your records may persist in encrypted backups for up to 35 days after deletion before being overwritten. Backup copies of your stored files are kept for at most 35 days after deletion, plus a 7-day recovery window, before they are purged.
How long it takes
In-app deletion: account, sign-in and database records — immediate (seconds). Stored files — removed in the same operation; any that fails is retried once a day for up to 14 days, then finished by hand.
Email request: Up to 30 days (typically processed within 7 business days after identity verification).
Backup purge: Database backups are overwritten within 35 days after primary deletion; backup copies of stored files are kept for at most 35 days after deletion, plus a 7-day recovery window.
Before you delete
-
→
Export your data first. If you want to keep a copy of your weight history, meals, or medication logs, use Settings → Privacy → Export My Data in the app to download a complete JSON archive before deleting. The download link is valid for 15 minutes, and you can complete one successful export every 24 hours — so export before you delete, not after.
-
→
Cancel App Store / Play Store subscriptions separately if needed. While our system deletes the billing records tied to your account, any active subscription purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play must be canceled in your store's billing settings to prevent any further charges. See Terms § 5.
-
→
If you are linked to an educator (coach), contact them directly if you want them to also delete the records they hold about you. Their retention policy is independent of ours.
Don't want to delete completely?
If you only want to stop being charged or pause the app, you have lighter options:
- • Cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account (in the app, Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription takes you there) — your account stays; you keep Premium until the end of your billing period, then access ends (there is no free tier).
- • Sign out on all devices and stop using the app — your data stays for whenever you come back.
- • Withdraw AI consent in Settings to stop AI processing while keeping the app for tracking.
This deletion process is governed by our Privacy Policy §§ 9–10 and Terms of Service § 16.
